The markets performed well today and barring auto, all sectors closed positive. The Sensex closed at 18637 (provisional), up 130 points from its previous close, and the Nifty closed at 5607 (provisional), up 40 points. The CNX Midcap index was up 0.1% and the BSE Smallcap index gained 0.8%. The market breadth was positive with advances at 801 against declines of 488 on the NSE.
