The markets slipped in the last hour of trade and closed flat. Banking and realty performed well while IT remained the worst performer. The Sensex closed at 18588 (provisional), down 8 points from its previous close, and the Nifty closed at 5586 (provisional), up 1 points. The CNX Midcap index was up 0.8% and the BSE Small cap index gained 0.1%. The market breadth was positive with advances at 755 against declines of 535 on the NSE.   


In Nifty50 stocks, IDFC was the top gainer by 3.53% and ended at 137.80 whereas TCS was the top loser by 2.60% and ended at 1119.20.
