US Markets:
The US markets ended modestly lower as investors took a pause after stocks reached two-year highs and the dollar rose as concerns over European sovereign debt worries resurfaced.

Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 0.17% or 19.07 points at 11457.47. Nasdaq Composite was down 0.40% or 10.5 points at 2617.22. Standard & Poor's 500 was down 0.51% or 6.36 points at 1235.23
In economic data, the US consumer price index rose 0.1% in November. Meanwhile the Fed's empire state general business conditions index gained 22 points to 10.57 in December, from a drop of 11.14 in November

It's a data heavy day in US today, housing starts for November is expected to come at around 550,000. October saw a figure of around 519,000.
The Philadelphia Fed survey for December is expected at around 16.0. Reading for November came at around 22.5, marking a sharp increase from October. Weekly jobless figures are expected to come at around 420,000.
In the currency space- the dollar rose as the euro fell broadly after Moody's said it may downgrade Spain's debt rating and investors awaited more news on how policymakers will resolve the Eurozone's fiscal crisis.
In commodities oil prices firmed above USD 88 a barrel after government data showed the biggest weekly drop in US crude inventories in eight years. Upbeat data on US industrial activity also helped lift investor sentiment.
