Nifty closed 85.05 points up at 5851.55
Sensex closed 253.82 points up at 19496.18
The Sensex continues to trade in the positive terrain. Oil & gas, banking, consumer durables, healthcare and metal stocks inched higher.
The 30-share benchmark index, BSE Sensex opened with a decline of 40.47 points or 0.21% at 19,201.89, while the broad based NSE Nifty started with a fall of 5.50 points or 0.10%, at 5,761.
Sensex Movers
ICICI Bank contributed rise of 75.8 points in the Sensex. It was followed by Reliance Industries (61.13 points), I T C (19.87 points), NTPC (10.05 points) and Wipro (9.16 points).
However, H D F C Bank contributed fall of 18.7 points in the Sensex. It was followed by Bharti Airtel (17.97 points), Tata Motors (14.79 points), Housing Development Finance Corporation (7.08 points) and Infosys Technologies (5.05 points).

Mid & Small-cap Space
The BSE Mid and small caps outperformed their larger counterparts gaining 1.42% and 1.77% respectively.
The major gainers in the BSE Midcap were Core Projects and Technologies (6.09%), Aban Offshore (2.95%), Ackruti City (1.1%), Alstom Projects India (0.7%) and A I A Engineering (0.42%).
The major gainers in the BSE Smallcap were A B G Shipyard (8.04%), Aarti Industries (5%), AK Capital Services (3.77%), A B G Infralogistics (2.25%) and INEOS ABS (India) (0.52%).
Sectors in Limelight
The Oil & Gas index was at 10,353.05, up by 181.86 points or by 1.79%. The major gainers were Indian Oil Corporation (2.74%), Cairn India (1.6%), Bharat Petroleum Corporation (0.86%), Petronet LNG (0.17%) and Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (0.08%).
The HC index was at 6,556.62, up by 109.78 points or by 1.70%. The major gainers were Cadila Healthcare (4.09%), Cipla (3.24%), Biocon (2.2%), Apollo Hospitals Enterprise (2.05%) and Divis Laboratories (0.36%).
The Bankex index was at 12,856.92, up by 211.77 points or by 1.67%. The major gainers were I C I C I Bank (4.57%), IDBI Bank (2.93%), Kotak Mahindra Bank (2.75%), Indusind Bank (2.61%) and Bank Of Baroda (0.05%).
On the other hand, the TECk index was at 3,720.37, down by 9.5 points or by 0.25%. The major losers were Bharti Airtel (3.2%), G T L Infrastructure (1.85%), Tech Mahindra (0.59%), Jagran Prakashan (0.42%) and Infosys Technologies (0.27%).
Market Breadth
Market breadth was positive with 1,809 advances against 1,136 declines.
Value and Volume Toppers
State Bank Of India topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 2,437.49 million. It was followed by L I C Housing Finance (Rs. 1,358.60 million), I C I C I Bank (Rs. 726.73 million) and Tata Motors (Rs. 701.64 million).
The volume chart was led by K S Oils with trades of over 11.02 million shares. It was followed by Cals Refineries (8.19 million), Resurgere Mines and Minerals India (5.86 million) and India Infoline (5.68 million).
