Market welcame the year 2011 with a gap-up opening.Nifty opened at 6177.45 with 42.95 points up where Sensex rose upto 20664.8.Some profit booking pulled the indices to end at lower levels. Nifty ended at 6152.70 with 18.20 points of gains whereas Sensex ended at 20555.17 with 46.08 points in positive.
Among BSE Sectoral Indices, Metal Index shone as steel stocks blinks because of increased prices. Metal Index rose the highest with 2.07% followed by CD by 1.48% rise.
In Nifty50 stocks, Sesagoa gained the most with 3.79% and ended at 341.00 whereas Bajaj-Auto lost the most by 4.29% and ended at 1474.95
Tatasteel was the turnover topper on NSE by traded value and Alok Textile was the top traded stock by traded quantity.
