Sensex crossed 17000 mark.
Market opened flat but the index mover Reliance Industries rose more than 4% and it ruled the market sentiment to close near its high.Nifty rose nearly 1.5% or 72.10 points and ended at 5089.10, day high was 5093.25 while Sensex gained 225.35 points and closed at 16997.91 after making intraday high of 17012.60.As described in the morning blog, Nifty was resisting around 5070-5080 level.
All BSE sectoral indices closed in positive.Oil and Gas was the top gainer with 2.33% followed by Realty with 2.30% and Power by 2.04%
JPAssociat was the top gainer among Nifty50 stocks,gaining 5.87% to close at 145.15 while Ranbaxy was the top loser toady, shedding 1.66%.
Market breadth was positive today to 3:1 as 969 stocks gained and 310 declined on NSE.
