Nifty closed above 5000 mark 1st time after 25th Jan 2010. Market continued Friday's rally after yesterday's holiday.Nifty opened around 4970 and it traded whole session in the positive territory.After strong postive opening signal from European indices today, Nifty spurted to 5012 in a few minutes.Day's high was 5029.45 and it closed near its day top at 5026.95 by gaining 104.65 points.Sensex gained 372.05 points and closed at 16801.60.(Unprovisional)
Auto giant, TataMotors gave a smart rally of more than 12% as it reported its highest monthly sales tally in more than three years.Tata boosted sales 58 percent last month to 69,427 vehicles, as lower interest rates and government stimulus measures spurred demand.
Among Nifty50 stocks, Tatamotors was the Top gainer with 12.96% to close at 803.40 while BPCL was the top loser shedding 4.09%.
Among the BSE sectoral indices,all the indices closed in positive.Auto Index gained the most by 4.29% followed by Metal(3.92%),Bankex(2.29%) and FMCG(2.13%).
Overall market breadth was positive to 4:1 ratio.1039 stocks gained and 249 stocks declined today on NSE.
