Market opened with a positive note and gained on the basis of banking and other heavyweight stocks.
Nifty ended at 5453.65 with 37.20 points of gain and Sensex ended at 18169.86 gaining 95.96 points.
Realty Index was the top gainer by 2.35% and the only loser in BSE Sectoral Indices was Metal index.
Cairn India was the top gainer in Nifty50 stocks with 3.96% and ended at 354.20.Sterlite Industries was the top loser by 3.88% and ended at 161.
SBI was the turnover topper in the form of traded value and Unitech was the top traded stock in the form of shares traded.
Overall market breadth was positive as 722 stocks gained and 622 stocks declined today on NSE.
