The markets closed weak today and all sectoral indices closed in the red. The Sensex closed at 17688 (provisional), down 252 points from its previous close, and the Nifty closed at 5331 (provisional), down 74 points. The CNX Midcap index was down 0.7% and theBSE Smallcap index also lost 0.6%. The market breadth was negative with advances at 452 against declines of 866 on the NSE.
In Nifty50 stocks, BPCL was the top gainer by 3.49% and ended at 689. RANBAXY was the top loser by 4.13% decline and ended at 532.05.
