The markets performed well today and IT was the best performer of todayÿs trade. The Sensex closed at 16488 (provisional), up 146 points from its previous close, and the Nifty closed at 4946 (provisional), up 47 points. The CNX Midcap index was up 1.1% and the BSE Smallcap index gained 1.3%. The market breadth was positive with advances at 909 against declines of 518 on the NSE.
In Nifty50 stocks, TCS gained the most by 7.08% and ended at 983.05 and ONGC was the top loser by 2.78% and ended at 278.50.
