A volatile session ended flat.Nifty closed at 5009.35 with 22.25 points of gain.Sensex closed with 64.79 points gain and closed at 16681.89.
BSE Metal index gained the most by 1.79% whereas FMCG index was the top loser with 2.35%.
Bhartiartl was the top gainer with 6.15% in Nifty50 stocks.Bharti closed at 274.25 while ITC lost 3.22% because of Ex-dividend effective rate.
Market breadth was positive today as 711 stocks gained and 577 stocks declined today on NSE.
At the time of closing bell in Indian markets, European markets were trasing mixed and flat. FTSE was down by 8 points, DAX was down by 5 points and CAC was trading in positive with 2 points.
