7th Apil Market Closing Updates:

The benchmark Nifty remains quiet in trade since the beginning of trade today.
Benchmark indices have been witnessing consolidation for the third consecutive session after the rally seen in previous two weeks. Market could be awaiting for earnings season or any other trigger for the next direction. They have been recovered quite sharply on the back of strong inflow of foreign money since March 22.In the immediate short-term, Sanjay Dutt of Quantum Securities said he was a little bearish because on a fundamental basis, everything was in the price. "We need fresh triggers whether they come in the form of earning upgrades for FY12 or they come in the form of policy action and some periodical manoeuvring in Delhi because one is also expecting a Cabinet reshuffle coming through soon."
The 30-share BSE Sensex was trading at 19,623, up 11 points and the 50-share NSE Nifty gained just 3 points at 5,895. The Nifty April futures were trading at 21 points premium.
Largecaps
HDFC was the major contributor to the index, with gaining 2.5%. Hindalco, Tata Power, L&T, Tata Steel, HDFC, Axis Bank, BPCL and SAIL were up 1-1.5%.
However, NTPC, TCS, Bharti Airtel, Maruti Suzuki and HDFC Bank were top losers, with falling 1-2%. Sesa Goa fell 2.75% on profit booking.
Lovable Lingerie, BF Utilities, TTK Prestige, SBI, Unitech, ICICI Bank, Cairn India and HDFC were most active shares on exchanges.
In midcap space, Blue Dart surged 18%. Prestige Estate, JM Financial, IVRCL Assets and Unichem Labs gained 6-8%. However, KGN Industries, OnMobile Global, Wockhardt and A2Z Maintenance fell 2-3.5%.
In smallcap space, Zandu Realty, Minda Inds, Nucleus Software, Infinite Comp and Shirpur Gold rallied 11-16% while R M Mohite, Shri Ganesh, Binny, Vaarad Ventures and Ontrack Systems lost 5%.
Breadth was in favour of advances; about 1875 shares advanced as against 935 shares declined on Bombay Stock Exchange.
