The markets closed with significant gains today and barring FMCG and IT, all sectoral indices closed positive. The Sensex closed at 18867 (provisional), up 145 points from its previous close, and the Nifty closed at 5680 (provisional), up 46 points. The CNX Midcap index was up 0.8% while the BSE Smallcap index gained 0.5%. The market breadth was positive with advances at 752 against declines of 547 on the NSE. 
In Nifty stocks, RCOM was the top gainer by 13.84% and ended at 106.55 whereas CIPLA was the top loser by 1.54% and ended at 316.50.

It was rangebound trade in the markets today and barring IT and FMCG, all sectoral indices closed negative. The Sensex closed at 18425 (provisional), down 78 points from its previous close, and the Nifty closed at 5540 (provisional), down 27 points. The CNX Midcap index was down 0.7% and the BSE Smallcapindex lost 0.4%. The market breadth was negative with advances at 453 against declines of 853 on the NSE.
In Nifty50 stocks, HEROHONDA was the top gainer by 1.82% and ended at 1788.85 whereas RCOM was the top loser by 4.13% and ended at 90.55.
