In the currency space- the dollar fell after a surprise interest rate hike from Australia and positive euro zone economic news but analysts warned of a possible rebound if the Federal Reserve disappointed markets at the end of its policy meeting later tonight.

US Markets:
The US markets ended higher amid the mid-term elections and the Federal Reserve's two day meeting to decide on providing more stimulus to the economy.
Dow Jones Industrial Average added 0.58% or 64.1 points at 11188.72. Nasdaq Composite rose 1.14% or 28.68 points at 2533.52. Standard & Poor's 500 gained 0.78% or 9.19 points at 1193.57.
There was no economic data that came out but the street will be watching out for the outcome of the 2-day Fed meeting. The FOMC policy statement is expected later today.
ADP employment report, auto sales, factory orders and ISM non-manufacturing index are the other key data points to watch out for in US. Also the US mid-term elections are also underway & there are early indications that the republicans are leading.
In the currency space- the dollar fell after a surprise interest rate hike from Australia and positive euro zone economic news but analysts warned of a possible rebound if the Federal Reserve disappointed markets at the end of its policy meeting later tonight.
Oil prices rose to a six-month peak as the dollar fell ahead of an expected decision by the Federal Reserve to inject more money into the economy and more OPEC producers signaled a tolerance for higher prices.
Copper prices too gained after the dollar's decline ahead of the Fed's policy statement.

2nd Nov Market Closing Updates:
2nd Nov Market Closing Dates
The Sensex fell into the negative terrain after D Subbarao governor of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) announced a hike of 25 basis points in the repo and reverse repo rates in the mid-year review of its credit policy. The CRR however has been left untouched at 6%. Realty stocks dropped the most followed by oil & gas and metal, while consumer durable and capital goods managed to trade in the positive.
Accordingly, the new repo rate, at which it lends to banks, stands at 6.25% and the reverse repo rate, at which it absorbs extra cash, at 5.25%.
Caveat on loans
The Reserve Bank has has upped bank provisioning for teaser loans to 2% from 0.4%. Also, the loan-to-value ratio of housing loans will not exceed 80%. Loans above Rs 75 lakh too have become expensive as the RBI has upped risk for home loans above the said amount to 125%.
Impact on bonds
The RBI has mentioned that it will cease hiking rates for now. This indicates clearly that there is a pause, which will have a positive impact on bonds.

US Markets:
US markets saw some strength in the early trade and the indices climbed 1% to trade near its five-month high but the mix of a stronger dollar, technical resistance and uncertainty ahead of this week's major events left stocks to slide and end on a mixed note.
Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 0.06% or 6.13 points at 11124.62. Nasdaq Composite was down 0.1% or 2.57 points at 2504.84. Standard & Poor's 500 was up 0.09% or 1.12 points at 1184.38.
In economic data in US, the October ISM manufacturing index came in at 56.9, a six-month high and exceeded the 54.0 that had been widely expected. The US construction spending for September was also strong. It increased 0.5% when a 0.7% decline had been expected.
Income and spending data was rather disappointing, but participants shrugged it off anyway. September personal income slipped 0.1% and spending increased a tepid 0.2%.
The dollar gained as investors prepared for a mid-term US congressional election and speculation about more monetary easing from the Fed.
Oil prices jump nearly 2% after unease about bombs found in Greece fueled earlier gains. Saudi Arabia's views on oil prices also supported the commodity's upmove.
Copper prices rose the most in a week as manufacturing accelerated in China, the world's biggest consumer.
